Stop game from kidnapping my mouse cursor
complete

I'm not even sure if I should put this in bug reports instead. Whenever I start the game the game literally hides and locks my mouse cursor which makes is extremely, extremely annoying since you have to minimize the game each time you start it and if you want to have the game window active to record some stuff or whatever and want to use oculus dash/ovrdrop you just can't because your mouse is trapped by vrchat and you're gonna have to take off your headset to press that windows button and minimize the game

Although it can not be said that it was completely resolved, I think that at least the thing to be stolen has decreased.
However, it seems that the cursor is often stolen if it is removed from active at startup.
Keep in mind that the best choice is to use RAWINPUT like a decent FPS title.
(It may be added as an option)

This was greatly reduced in VRChat 2019.1.1, released on 7 Feb 2019. VRChat should be significantly less aggressive about stealing your mouse.

mouse kidnapping in vr is not the case anymore in VRChat 2019.1.1, therefore i think this post could be marked as complete.

Tayou: Did you happen to notice that all of these were posted after January 1st, 2019?

frostyfrog: 2019.1.1 was not released on January 1st, it was released Feb 7th, 2019.

also lock the mouse to the damn window when the menu is open, I can't count how many times I've opened the menu, moved down to the avatar menu, and opened some random program from my taskbar instead.

I hope they do it. Sounds like an easy fix, that hopefully they can put into the next update... Really annoying when VRChat nabs my mouse while I'm trying to edit a scene (or am playing a completely different game).

The current "fix" for this is to be in the world menu in game. I hope they fix this but its been like this since i started playing in November.

Putting my game into Windowed Mode helped me a lot.

at least let me alt+tab while the game is loading, it forcefully steals my my mouse 2-3 times before the Go button appears

Im so sick of this bug and its been around for way to long please have this fixed.

A workaround I use is opening the world/avatar/social menu to free the cursor so I can tab out via the VR overlay, so I don't have to walk over to my keyboard.

Zarniwoop: Yup, this is the process that I use. I either do it on the loading screen when the Go button appears, or I open up one of the menus and switch windows then. When the cursor isn't locked (in a menu), you are able to move the cursor out and select another window. It's honestly not that hard to do and can be done rather quickly.
I would prefer to keep the mouse locked sometimes because on the rare occasion that my controllers are dead or I'm testing something, I'd like to still play with my headset on and with the keyboard and mouse. If the mouse is never locked in VR mode, then I would not be able to play in VR with the hybrid setup.
