[FEEDBACK] Lock Gesture
complete

With the index, I was able to turn gestures on/off by pressing the left joystick down. This also doubled as locking my gesture in place. The current menu disables the gestures altogether. Can there be a "lock" options as well?

With the inclusion of the Binding config window in Settings, this is now fixed. Customize your bindings to your own liking!

"Gesture Locking" is kind of a tough concept to implement for AV3, as you've got total control over when animations are turned on and off. If you want to turn an animation on and hold it, you may want to consider using a Toggle control in an AV3 avatar.
That being said, we've implemented Toggle Gesture as an action to bind in your SteamVR input configuration.
Not changing status on this, as this doesn't directly address the post, but it may help with this issue.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: toggles are pain to use compared to just simple click of button, gesture lock on controller for me was one of best thing about using index in vrchat, it allows to be much more expressive, especially when you have gestures that combine with each other/require 2 hands (tho it was a bit hard to activate it if both hands were using gesture that require not using thumb, as you needed to click very fast, that could be improved a bit by adding some additional super small delay, like max half a second).
Action menu with toggles is nice for more advanced stuff, but for normal expressions during talks and running around the maps the gestures are just much more natural, and having a lock was making them twice as good. I could recommend people buying index just to get that single feature, and now its gone D:
Also... arent gestures just 2 number parameters in animator? lock can just set it to current value, I don't see how it makes it tough concept. No one will care if your own animation will change the gesture somehow, its only about preventing hands from changing current value.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: I thought index already has the feature?

I agree, I frequently used gesture locking on Index, and now it is completely absent. The lack of gesture locking and the fact that there is no hotkey on Index for it anymore is a straight downgrade from the previous control scheme.

Agreed with the sentiment here. I used that button to lock gestures almost more than I used it to disable gestures.

Having to do 2 cumbersome actions instead of a single button press to toggle/lock gestures is a huge downgrade. It would be ideal if there was the current gesture toggle action mappable in the Steam Input options for those who want to maintain it.

Colonel Cthulu: It's absolutely frustrating in its current state! I 100% agree.
