[1489] Vive controllers : default wand binding has analog locomotion/rotation speed
tracked
Nicalay2
Before, the default Vive binding didn't have analog locomotion/rotation speed : you used to click everywhere on the trackpad and you used to move/rotate at full speed. Only the advanced binding has analog speed.
Now, both the default binding and advanced bindings have analog speed.

Analog Input Deadzones Too Extreme + Not Configurable
MissingNO123
This started since the last update that changed inputs over to use SteamVR Input 2.0. However, the issue affects Desktop mode Steam Input and OSC.
When sending analog look values using a controller through Steam Input or via the OSC address
/input/LookHorizontal
, the input has a very large dead-zone (around 50%) enforced by VRChat, which for controllers is not affected by the dead-zone setting within Steam Input. The old setting felt to be around 10%. The new setting makes it uncomfortably hard to use VRChat with a controller, as you have to push the right stick more than halfway to start turning, then the range between slow turning and full speed is extremely narrow and hard to control. While I myself do not use a controller primarily for accessibility reasons, I feel that people who did would have much more trouble with this unexpected change.
This also makes OSC scripts that I use to turn my character in-game practically useless, as they rely on being able to send small values between 0.1 and 0.5 to turn slowly.

[1491] Vive Controllers: Overshooting Movement?
ZenithVal
I'm unsure how to exactly explain this issue as I can't compare to previous behavior anymore. With the recreated default Vive Wand bindings, I often "overshoot" my movement. (Like it doesn't release as fast?) Something feels off.
*edit, yeah its probably analog.

It feels somewhat similar to the diagonal movement that can cause slight motion sickness, like in VirtualCast rooms.

You're talking about moving your hands, or moving with the trackpad ?
If it's moving with the trackpad, it's because the movement speed is now analog instead of constantly full speed.
ZenithVal
Nicalay2 Walking with the trackpad. It's not sure it's because of analog? I have movement deadzones set to hit fullspeed very easily so it should just be the same as previous behavior but it feels like I continue moving a bit after releasing click.

I've actually come to like analog for movement but my worn controllers aren't happy with it. Desperately need a way to switch.
