When closing the client (tested closing from in-game menu) VRChat seems to go through the motions of a proper shutdown (avatars despawn for a few frames and then I'm kicked back to SteamVR) but the app remains unresponsive on the desktop. It requires a manual task kill to fully exit.
Probably a known issue but just adding it here for issue tracking.
@Tupper - Community Manager: It's been an issue since 2017, is this finally the solution to the issue?
@Bryan Bortz: Potentially. Hanging on exit got worse in 2018, and we tracked this as a cause. It might solve the issue entirely. We'll wait and see.
@Tupper - Community Manager: When you say 2018, do you mean 2018 or 2018? I mean 2017 not 2017.
For me it feels like more deep hang, that in 2017-version. In 2107 it's "crashing" by self after some delay on exit, or if it hangs, I was able to click the cross on window and it was closing anyways. In 2018 it hangs ALWAYS on exit, sometimes it hangs in some strange way, so "this program does not respond" dialog from windows system does not always triggered and it's hard to close the app manually. only taskmanager helps. It's rly annoying from VR, also because privileged processes as taskmanager can't be controlled from Steam dash.
We've found the cause of this issue and plan on addressing it in the next few Open Beta builds.
