Add hip-rotation-based movement for 4+ point tracking
ShingenPizza
As in: I'd like to be able to move in the horizontal direction that my hip points toward, not wherever i'm looking, so i can look around while still going forward, without having to adjust my thumbstick constantly.
Also so i don't start moving backwards when i look down or up and accidentally move past the 90 degree mark, which is ridiculous.
Of course it would require a mechanism to prevent the behavior described above if the hip is pointing up/down/slightly further too.
While you're at it, you can also add moving in the direction that you point with your left/right controller, which i personally dislike, but some people use it in games where they can.

I know this is an old suggestion, but I would love the addition of hip-based locomotion in addition to the standard of head-based / controller-based. This would be a lot more natural for FBT users when walking and looking around at the same time, especially for OSC treadmill users.
If I remember right, DecaMove did something like this before they went under and I can't find a replacement online. This idea came back to me when trying to figure out how to get more fit in real life while still enjoying the beauty of VR (i.e. treadmill walking through large worlds).

Fixing the problem looking up and adding hip locomotion would be great.

Definitely needed, as good as the steamvr plugin (https://github.com/ju1ce/Simple-OpenVR-Bridge-Driver) is, it's not the best but it works in the meantime I guess. :/

Yes. First party support for hip-based locomotion would be very useful.
I have tried solutions like using DecaHub for hip based locomotion (which also happens to work with vive trackers), but they are a bit lacking as they work as a hack that changes the input direction of the stick.
Thus if you are running forwards and look to the side, you will start strafing, and in many worlds the strafe speed is less then the forwards movement speed so you end up moving slower, and also your movement animation/look in game is not as intended (e.g. running forward while looking to the side)
