The best i can shorten the idea is YouTube Premium monetization model for avatar creators.
have a global avatar pass subscription.
allow avatar creators to add avatars into this pass, basically a toggle on the avatar product.
at the end of the month, get the % value of the avatar pass creators you used.
Example:
Creator A got 60% of your time
Creator B got 20%
Creator C for 19%
Creator D, E, F, G, H <1%
split the, lets say 800 credit subscription between the time usage from above.
480 | 160 | 152 | Drop the rest of the credits, you need to make 1% or above to be eligible
there's 8 credits left over, idk what to do with these. could just be a platform cut
only thing i'm not sure on: what happens if i only use my own avatars, or publics for a month? where do those credits go? do i get a free month? does it refund me? do we use the stats from the last valid month?
personally, i think i'd go with "use the stats from the last valid month", as the purpose of this is to support the avatar creators.
This also brings a very requested feature from the community in: avatar searching.
you can look for avatars in the Avatar Pass section of the market place, allowing you and friends to avatar hunt in any world. You can technically already do this with market place avatars, but it's not a fun social thing, since you cant show your friends "try on" avatars.
Extra feature: add a slider/custom amount, so people can support more if they want, but have a minimum amount.
Why i think this could be a good system for VRC?
the community is already use to going to avatar worlds, trying on every avatar, and picking one. thats what makes avatar hunting fun, and using a product based store page defeats that fun.
If i take myself as an example here. i don't want to buy avatars, if i'm buying an avatar at full price, i want everything that comes with it, blend files, substance files, etc.
However, if i could pay a monthly credit subscription for access to a large library, i would 100% pay that. i'm not buying avatars with those credits, i'm paying for the library access. i no longer care about the source files i'd be paying for otherwise.
