The instances list for worlds does not refresh/update after the initial load of a world's instances list. Closing and reopening the menu and selecting a world to view will not refresh this list, and none of the instance stats update either. The game must be restarted to force a refresh.

This is still an issue, it appears it hasn't been fixed yet.
Sometimes when trying to find public worlds, it won't show any instances the first few times you open up that world.
I'm not sure the cause or the details.

I believe as of VRChat 2023.2.3 this issue has been fixed. Instance lists and info seem to update very quickly. Now public hopping is viable again!
It took 9 months, which sucks as it probably hurt a lot of users' public world experiences.
Nonetheless, thank you VRChat Team for addressing this.

Between 2017~2018 and part of 2019 … it use to update quickly..
Till some kind of server update or changes…
Gradually over time it got slower
Ever since the quest party joined….the servers had a few hiccups and was then made another update… to what we see today if not worst
It’s most likely due to population count back then wasn’t so high…
But with so many peeps forking into VRC+ .. and other company deals or investments towards VRC ….. what reason should the server not update fast as it use to?
Keeping empty instance seems problematic and can potentially cause a server overload if a group decides to BOT spam create empty instances…
Imagine an instance with 1000 over 40 in one instance… possible

✩Frisk✩: The server continues to update the instances quite frequently, actually better than it used to since they did quite a few substantial architectural changes to their servers. Their servers can currently handle the current player count just fine.
The problem is that the VRChat client's new menu is not receiving these updates properly. Ever since the new main menu was implemented it stopped refreshing instance info after it was initially loaded, requiring the user to restart the game in order to get new instance information.
Instance info can be seen updating just fine from the VRChat website, or any 3rd party application that reads from the api.

Description of the bug: The list of available instances per world will only load once per play session. Makes hopping publics very annoying cause after a while I could be hopping into a totally dead world thinking it has 20 people in it. I can also not see new instances created after I launch the game.
I can see using the website that the instances update there so must be a client issue.
Steps to reproduce:
- Browse world tab, open some worlds and load their instance list
- Play the game for a bit
- Open the same worlds in the big menu, instance list is unchanged/wont update for every world page I loaded earlier in the play session.
- Only way to fetch new instance data for those worlds is to restart the game
Check images for reference, the black cat instance list doesn't update. Windows clock in the lower right of the images. The instance I'm in changes but nothing else. Between image 1 and 2 I've rejoined, visited other worlds, clicked around on other stuff in the big menu.

I frequently find that when I join a world instance that the population count that showed on the tab was completely incorrect. For instance, I may select a McDonald's instance that says it has 15 people in it, and when I go in there is absolutely nobody in it.

This hurts the discoverability of public instances and the activity of public hopping.
Attached are 2 screenshots of the instance list to The Black Cat taken about 5 minutes apart, and in different worlds. As can be observed, none of the instances have been updated/replaced.
