[1407] YT-DLP Outdated, resulting in 360p youtube video playback
complete
Haxy
• Current Issue: The YT-DLP version 2023.10.13 in VRChat is outdated, causing incomplete data retrieval for YouTube videos. Consequently, videos are only available in 360P instead of the higher 720P quality.
• Solution: The nightly build of YT-DLP, version 2024.03.08.232718, fixes this, allowing access to 720P streams.
• Images provides showing the difference in streams provides by both the current version of YT-DLP in VRChat, and the nightly version.

Youtube DL needs updated
techanon
The current version of YTDL that VRChat is using has an issue when fetching the video links from youtube, as youtube likely changed parts of their API recently, which YTDL has already pushed fixes for.
I did a test with a version that was a couple months old and part of the APIs YTDL checks for video links were failing with 400 bad request.
Bottom 2 images attached you can see the lack of the typical 720p link from ytdl and it being present after updating via the yt-dlp -U command.
The top image was running the same --list-formats command but with vrchat's exact YTDL copy instead of my own.
