Avatars (Mine as well) Disappearing, Bug w/ Flat Lit Shader or AMD.

After the latest update, for some reason, now avatars who have a shader (So far its been Flat Lit Tooner) disappear and I'm not alone, as the avatars and others will not appear again unless the game is restarted, and even then it happens again. My shoes aren't Flat Lit so I know its the shader. Some are saying its related to the AMD, but we haven't found the source, so it is most likely from the Games coding possibly? I tried re-uploading with the new SDK and the same thing happened. ANY help as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated so I can help the others.

From my understanding, this is an issue with the way Cubed's shader creates the outline on avatars. It's not related to VRChat, it's something that AMD broke in their drivers (the Jan 2017 AMD driver still works). There is a recently released version of Cubed's shader that doesn't have the outline option, which will display correctly for users with AMD GPUs. Past that, this is not something VRChat can fix on their end.

I recently got a HTC Vive and a new RX 580 and played for days with my old i5-4460 for days with no problems. Then I decided to upgrade my computer and got new everything including a new AMD cpu and then this problem happened. I installed old drivers for RX 580 off of a CD, I would have assumed it would have updated online though. This time I did not install through CD so for sure have most current version. It's either a problem with the processor or graphics drives, and it's probably drives as someone else pointed out. I'll have to test downgrading to an older version tomorrow.

Sr.Hikari: How nice of them to send people to amateur developers of buggy shader who cant and wont fix it, instead of solving problem with their game.

Hoshou Neko: just pointing out that the person developing cubeds shaders (which is cubed) is vrchat staff. Also since it only affects this particular shader and only occurs on amd gpus there is a high possibility that it is not vrchats fault. The thing is also that the shader developer does not have an RX series card and thous has no way of troubleshooting the issue.

MotoFckr9k: Doesn't mean we shouldn't be angry at Cubed - his shader has made this game unplayable to owners of RX cards.
I love this game and its social aspect, but have been unable to play it reliably for months due to this bug.
His shader has broken this game as a whole, and as a developer, he shouldn't have expected every player to be playing on an Nvidia card.

McDreamy: When the shader is apparently working correctly on other hardware and earlier drivers, the fault lies with AMD. Their software is in error.

Al Capone: There are people with geforce that have the same bug. Moreover i dont have any problems with other games, so its not really amd problem.

Guys, I'm freaking out,
I went to go to Frys to upgrade my AMD so I could mail him mine and save the time for the crowdfund.
So I drive to Frys,
but I found out there's no more GPUs.
They've sold out nearly in my whole state,
The only thing I can do is order online but I don't have my mailbox key and the landlord isn't back until Wednesday.
So I bought the best GPU they had left, this tiny GT 1030, 2GB DDR5 it was best they had... It's shit it's so tiny compared my AMD 580 I couldn't do it, I rather play with 30% of the game then not at all.
So I drive back, I return the GPU.
Buy some bitcoin because holy crap we're in a GPU drought.
Still depressed, but WAIT, I have an idea.
Let's the the 50$ and hire someone from fiver who is a gamer and is able to quickly fix the DX12 RX400-500 bug now. or how about we go straight to Unity or Direct X themselves and have someone fix this.
It seems my only option is rebuild the whole damn PC, and have to wait until I get my key, and then gotta wait for shipping. That's like 2 weeks, TWO WEEKS.
We're going to call AMD everyday, I will get a petition. PLS.
FOR THE LOVE OF VR, I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THIS WAY.

Isn't there a way to just write a script that forces the toon lit shader to be overlaid by standard shading as a workaround, until the bug is fixed?

The most recent update for VRChat Patch 0.12.0p11 has made it impossible for me to play within the game now. I had a work around where models would not go invisible until this update came live. As of now when I load in most models now go away and some parts of the world flicker black.

This bug appears only with htc vive. Someone plugged in oculus on the same pc, and bug was gone. So apparently its a combination of radeon and vive. Hope this helps to find the source of the bug.

For me the issue came from using the "newest" amd drivers. I uninstalled my current driver (17.12.1) and installed the more stable version(17.1.1). However, VRchat has had several updates since then so I don't know if this still works.

This is not a problem with VRChat! This needs to be reported to AMD or the devs of Cubed Shaders, I've reported it to both!
