VRChat fails to load into worlds with content cache near full as of build 1648, persisting into 1649

Since 1648, most attempts to join worlds simply send me back to my homeworld immediately with a slight lagspike during the black-screen that would usually transition into loading the world. This seems to be fixed temporarily by clearing content cache, although it usually does not take long to get back to ~29gb. This happens even if the world has already been downloaded!
Friends have reported having this issue too so it's not just me!

I'm shocked but have to say not surprised that an error of this magnitude is only "tracked". I tried a few more things (obviously a user has limited means to test workarounds) and despite numerous attempts have concluded that my worlds will simply not be visitable any longer.
If I click on the world icon and it displays the wrong world icon and it reloads the world I am already in what is it that VRC developers think we should do?
I'm guessing give up with that and then buy VRC+ or some trinket. That will as of now never happen. What a way to run a company.

Tom Leylan No. VRChat had the issue internally and a patch was implimented in the last update, however due to uncertainty if the fix would actually work (It didn't, fully) it is still only marked as Tracked.
The issue happens to all worlds and, as of the update, can be fixed most times by retrying the join; I think the issue you are describing is isolated to yourself.
VRChat is currently still working on this issue. That's why it's Tracked.
evalka
Tom Leylan In fact, I just noticed that my followup post I was asked to post has been marked as "Available in future release"!

evalka Appreciate the reply but does that mean the "fix" fixes the cause of my issue? Do I create another ticket? Is that one going to be ignored, tracked? Do keep in mind that nothing has changed on my end except that I can no longer join my own worlds.
I have suggested that it might be corruption in the DB that holds world information. Obviously I cannot test that I can only speculate.
I update my worlds. I enter them. The following day only 1 of 3 (the home world) works. Any attempt to enter the others displays "loading" my homeworld image and I'm back where I started.
Update my worlds and the cycle starts again.
Could this in any way be something I am causing? It seems very unlikely considering what I see happening.
Did you clear the cache? Yes. Did you create a new world? Yes. Did you reboot everything? Yes.
I could create a new account does VRChat support think that is worthwhile trying? Do you see there is little "support" in support?

Build 1662 works for me on Quest 3! No more unwanted home world...
evalka
Olli42 I was told they are unsure about the fix and to report if it continues to happen... unfortunately, it is still happening to me occasionally!
Tom Leylan
Olli42 I realize we can't be told of every detail of every patch but is there some indication of what was done to attempt a "fix"? If this behavior was not happening before (and it wasn't) and it happens for me every day it seems obvious that something broke the system.
The problem is that I have no idea if attempting to use Build 1662 will fix my issue. I don't know if it affects anything else. Is it schedule for release soon?
I very much doubt that what I'm encountering is related to any cache issue which is why I am reluctant to go through the effort.

A week ago or so I clicked on My Worlds on my menu and selected my main world. It started to load, displayed the image of the world I was in (my home world) and just reloaded that one.
I pushed out new versions for Android and Windows and I could then start an instance of my world. The following day the exact same thing happened. Again I pushed the same version out one more time and again I could create an instance.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the world id. I've just pushed out the same world with a new id and we will see what happens.

Same problems today. I load (at startup) to my home world (a small one I created/uploaded) and any attempt to get to my main world starts the connection process but loads the world I am already in instead.
I re-upload the problem world again and I can select it. I should be able to instantiate instances today and tonight and tomorrow the "wrong world" problem is back.

I'm having exactly the same issue.
Whenever I try to enter the world I made, I'm returned to homeworld.
However, if I send myself an invite through the browser and join via that, the issue sometimes doesn't happen.
this is a translated message.Sorry.

Is this issue still occurring? If so, can you provide pc specs and logs?
whitevampy
StormRel Yep the issue is still occuring. The World I was trying to join was already in my Cache. I attached a short version of the output log where the error was happening
PC specs:
CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X3D
GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XTX
RAM: 64GB 6000MT/s
Storage: 2x 1TB M.2 Nvme SSDs, 1x 4TB SATA SSD
evalka
@StormRel Yep, still going on with me & others! Looking at @whitevampy's specs & output log I can be sure they're having the same issue as me.
Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT
GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER
32GB RAM
One other note I have is that it seems to happen with specific worlds, going to a different world can work while others don't (Happened with my own homeworld today, but some of my other worlds were fine.)
evalka
StormRel Actually, here's a log of the bug occurring to my homeworld when I tried to return to it, so it would sent me to the default homeworld instead every time I tried
whitevampy
It is not like a crash, but instead I just load into my home world instead of the world I want to join in. The problem is pretty inconsistent and I experienced it only the first 5-15 minutes while playing VRChat. My Cache is at 422.79/425GB. I know my Cache is pretty Large but I never had problems with it.
Deantwo
My content cache is at 29.99 GB, and I have not crashed at all. So the issue doesn't seem to be globally affecting everyone. It could be an issue with your specific computer?
If this really is a cache issue, you can slow down the rate at which your cache is filled, by changing your Avatar Optimization settings to "0 MB Maximum Download Size". Doing this will make all avatars appear as an impostor for you, which is only 1 MB each. Then you can just enable avatars of people you want to see.
evalka
Deantwo, I already do these things and more, and can actually update that I'm having the same issue without a full cache! I just get repeatedly sent back to my homeworld. Many friends and others are reporting the same issue.
whitevampy
same problem. I am on build 1650
Olli42
Can also confirm! My quest 3 have this with actually 1650 installed. With my pico 4 ultra everything ist ok - there i have the older 2025.2.1p3-1629 client.
Does anybody know how i can downgrade the quest client app to check if an older version works better?
