A couple of days ago videos were playing fine in my world Karaoke Central but then all of sudden 90% of videos were unplayable. Many different players created their own instances and still every player saw the same thing happening where only the same 10% of videos were playing. We tried different karaoke maps too and the same thing happened.
Yesterday when I logged on it seemed to work again but then a couple of hours later I received messages from players saying it was broken again, I logged in to check this and they were right - the exact same thing happened as the night before where 90% of videos were unplayable and only the same few songs were working.
In Task Manager -> Details we can see that youtube-dl does download all of the videos in the playlist.
Another issue is the way youtube-dl is used in VRChat, it used to work where when you loaded a world it would stay on a black screen until every video was downloaded and then later it was changed where the world would load first and then youtube-dl would start running. Well, in the last couple of months if you switch world while youtube-dl is trying to download videos then it will not start up/work again for any other world you switch to in your play session - you have to start VRChat again.
In summary, the major issues are:
#1 – 16 Jan 2019 video players broke (tested by many people (50+) across different worlds and instances) and broke again on 17 Jan 2019 around the same time as the night before.
#2 – youtube-dl will stop working if you switch world while the processes are running, they won’t start again for any other world.
EDIT: Also worth mentioning - myself and other players have updated to the latest version of youtube-dl but the same issue occurs, if it works fine for hours and then suddenly breaks for everyone it doesn’t make sense.
