The current version of youtube dl broke. The patch notes for build 944 say that an automatic update feature was added to check for new releases but this isn't working. The youtube dl team put out an update today.
edit: I see the "automatic update" doesn't update from youtube dl official releases but only pulls whatever old version vrchat has approved

Investigating, confirmed that some videos are broken, some are working.

Can reproduce with the video links lahyx sent. Same error in the log file:
'Unsupported JS expression '[';'
Commander Greed
I tested one of the videos on a "normal" youtube-dl (2020.06.16.1) that I had installed and it failed as well. One "youtube-dl --update" later and the video downloaded fine.

Can you provide logs or output indicating the faulty download?

I am unable to reproduce-- YouTube playback appears to work fine.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: It isn't every video(yet), they fail one by one. And depending on world you visit, PYpy dance for example, has private hosting.
My copy of youtube dl on this pc was modified a month ago, there is a new release of youtube dl today, and many videos aren't working. So your automatic update system mentioned in build 944 patch notes, seems to not be doing it's job.
Do you need some links that are broken for me inside vrc, but work in browser?

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: here you go some links you can use to replicate
if you want more, try pretty much any of Fitness Marshalls youtube videos.
I am hoping that this is fixed while most videos are still working instead of a week or two after it fails completely.
