Video player constantly reloads, just to error.
SoullessOneYT
Any video player will look at my link, and kill itself. The YTSearch world works just fine with it's own links, but if I ctrlC +ctrlV it back into itself, it kills itself. All it does is continuously have an error, retry, then eventually after an eternity, stop with the simple text "Failed to load video", no error codes, no shit. This might also be synced, but I don't know. I also use Stem link if it helps.

No world music

URLs are no longer functioning, world music being also affect. Every instance that I and a friend log into is now dead silent. It will show a video error for any URL, and even built in playlists.

Video error, "[youtube] {identifier}: The following content is not available on this app.."
DatGek
- Try to load any video from youtube.
- Get error message from title
seemingly affects all users
non-youtube videos work fine, can only imagine this is caused by youtube's ID pollicy.
unsure if this is something that VRC can fix as it's probably something ytdlp will need to address, but might as well send it here for the people looking

Video player not working

Title: YouTube videos fail on my client while others in the same world can watch
Platform: PC, Desktop mode
Region: Alberta, Canada
ISP: MCSnet
VRChat build: 1681
GPU/Driver: Nvidia 32.0.15.8097
Windows: 11
Summary:
Twitch and other sources play normally, but YouTube videos fail only on my client. Friends in the same world can watch videos but when I try to input a link it breaks the player for everyone.
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Join any world that uses a YouTube player (tested multiple worlds)
2) Paste a YouTube URL that others can watch
3) I get "Video Error" on my side, others see it play
Expected:
Shared YouTube videos should resolve and play for all clients.
Actual:
Log shows yt-dlp is called correctly, then YouTube rejects it:
ERROR: [youtube] <id>: The following content is not available on this app.. Watch on the latest version of YouTube.
Process exits code 1. AVPro then fails to open the source.
What I have tried:
- Clear cache and PlayerPrefs
- Delete AppData\LocalLow\VRChat\VRChat entirely
- Full reinstall
- Flush DNS, reboot router
- Firewall and AV exclusions, Defender off for test
- Tested multiple worlds
Notes:
Twitch runs fine on the same worlds and session. This looks YouTube specific to my client rather than world setup or general connectivity.

Looks like a fix is already partially done as of this comment.

yeah, seems pushed to released hour ago.
So now...wait for dev to patch.

Tony_Lewis Thanks for linking the relavent pr here. I've confirmed this bug on my side and have confirmed, that downloading "yt-dlp.exe" from https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/releases/tag/2025.08.20 and then tricking vrchat into using that works for restoring player functionality.
