Contacts parented to the eyes are very jumpy

So I'm trying to make a 2d eye tracking system in vrchat, and I have a contact sender parented to the fake eye that's being tracked in the sdk. On the side of the fake eye is two proximity contacts on the top and side of the avatar, there to measure the position of the contact. With this, I'm able to animate uvs on the eyeballss of an avatar, moving the position of the iris to the appropriate spot.
In unity with the emulator, this system works flawlessly. In-game however, the sender that's parented to the eye is very jumpy and all over the place, causing the proximity contacts to have their values to be messed up too. I know it's not an issue with the fake eyes themselves because the fake eyes still track fine. I just think it's a weird parenting issue with the contacts
