Avatar creators can allow specific users access to private avatars

A more customizable option than public/private. Each avatar has a whitelist of users that can access the pedestal or save to personal avatar list, maintained by the original uploader.

As an avatar creator I think this would be incredibly useful.
Of course if the person really wanted the unity files they could ask the creator or the creator can always keep it included in a store page.
But most people don't know a thing about using unity, on top of independencies updating or just unity throwing bugs at you.
And some people like quest users might not have a PC so you'd have to have their account info and upload it for them which isn't fun or safe.
Being able to just let specific users use an avatar by whitelist or a code would be amazing and solve so much headache for both the user who wants to use an avatar and for the avatar creator.

We had a talk about this recently again in the VRChat discord, it would be a good addition or.. something else, a generated token to upload avatar to specific users account or whatever ; less account sharing is always good.

This would be good for allowing it to those who are on your friends list and as soon as that person unfriends you they cant use it anymore

It seems to be put as tracked as of July 10th, 2023. I hope this comes out sooner than later as this would be super nice to have! Since the avatar search world has come out (with it being able to save any avatar that you equipped to a database if you enter it), this is something that I want more than ever. My friend's avatars have been stolen by randos from time to time and it's annoying to see. I had to private and reupload a few of my friend's avatars already just to remove them

I have seen this working very well on other platforms.
It's been 5 years now, I really starting to loose faith.
Please VRChat add this, it's such a great feature for artists and communities!

To transfer commissioned avatar, we know every avatar has blueprint ID and the owner id.
If VRC devs can make special page on website where you want send avatar to someone. You will fill in the someone (by searching it) and confirm it at your side. Other must also confirm your avatar. It's like mailing system but this time with avatar. Can add 2FS security to confirm the transfer ownership. So it cannot transferred simply if account is stolen for example.
The new owner id will then attached on it, and it will show up in new owner avatar list.
But other side, you can make whole avatar project backup, pack it with like zip and send it to someone with for example WeTransfer service. The new owner can unpack it, load Unity, then upload it with minimal work because everything is already set. That is it. That is second alternative. Just make project copy as solution.
This second option is also better, because if avatar seems broken, creator need only send package (not more need whole project) to other owner for just overwrite it. This cannot done with first option above because owner id is changed. Fixed avatar must uploaded again and transfer it over.
