I think it would be nice for PC if you use gestures, your hands get moved infront of you or just arm controls like whats seen in the rec room
Cor Vous
They should let us rebind all the gestures
Chdata
Also please make it optional between new/old system.

I think that using the trackpad as an option for doing gestures is a great idea. I like to string together animations and it's extremely difficult to do so with IRL hand gestures. I really hope that something like this is implemented as an option in the game.

I was hoping there would be a mode emulating how vrchat handles gestures for rift users, where your finger pose triggers a premade gesture. I like finger tracking but would also like the ability to disable it and have the index controllers perform like rift controllers do in vrchat.

big mike: thats already a thing, if you click your left thumbstick it should toggle your gesture animations. so when you perform the correct gesture, it will do the animation tied to it
Edit: Referring to index controllers, having gesture animation toggleable allows you to use your full finger tracking without unwanted triggers

BranVR: But i want to be able to have my avatar's hands do premade poses instead of always doing what my real hands are doing. Like how the oculus rift controllers work in vrchat. The toggle only changes whether or not your face emotes/props are triggered

I'll just copy and paste my comment from another canny that was basically saying the same thing about the gesture system.
Gestures feel impossible to even do accurately now because of this system. Whenever I have the gesture mode activated it instantly starts doing gestures just because my hands are normally resting on the controller and I never have any idea what gesture I'm doing.
To make matters worse, the gesture you have on when you toggle the gesture system gets stuck when you turn it off, so I literally have to pull my camera out or run to a mirror every time I turn it on/off to make sure I'm not stuck on a gesture.
The old way (before this patch) was that you'd squeeze the controller in to do the gestures. This was a bit harder to do but at least I had a better way of knowing what gesture I'm doing. Before that, there was the system which allowed you to use gestures with your touchpad. Why none of these two things are even offered as options now I don't know. Why are we forced to conform to this one specific way of using gestures instead of given an option?
If this is really the system VRChat is now sticking with and is happy with, which IMO is a step back from the previous patch with squeezing for gestures, at the bare minimum we need some kind of HUD indicator. We need something that tells us which gesture we're using because I literally don't even use my gestures anymore because I have no way of knowing if I'm doing them unless I'm staring at myself in a mirror or camera. I'm able to tell exactly what gesture I'm using when holding a vive controller or a rift controller, with the index controllers I am absolutely clueless because of this implementation.

Kizzy: Agreed, and the tracking isn't always precise either. Assuming I eventually got used to which gesture triggers each action (which takes twice as long as memorizing trackpad positions), they just randomly trigger from natural hand positions or the finger tracking goofing up your finger positioning.
Here's the simple solution: touchpad controls like the old days. The touchpad isn't even being used for anything right now. Keep the toggle gesture option though, it's genuinely a useful thing I wish the Vive controllers had (I moved it to the A button instead of clicking down on the stick).
