Fixing Battle Discs

Battle Disc has been broken for quite sometime now. Mostly a few months. These are the problems outlined. 1. The box collider that separates the battlefield is missing or not working. 2. Also the back wall makes avatars hit boxes untouchable. People have complained but no action has been taken.

Fixed with the recent update to Battle Discs!

I think that there should NOT be a toggle option. 1) I have a feeling that this can be abused and used to make it really irritating, as well as causing even more unforeseen problems. 2) The back wall glitch NEEDS to be fixed for fair gameplay. It's not a technique, a technique would be using the disc to block the disc so that you can do a return shot. So I think the wall and back wall needs to be added back.

I've been reading the discussion here, and by no means am I a consistent battle discs player so I don't quite feel like my opinion matters too much, but I was around during the time of the colliders as well as when the colliders were taken out. At first I was upset as it brought on an experience I wasn't wanting as the loss of colliders were pointed out, over time I came to play in my own way and worked my best around these issues and new play styles, some more infuriating then others, but fair play is the way a game should be played the game map arena had two opposite platforms with EMPTY space between indicated that you should stick to your side or platforms during the duration of the match, as an agressive player myself sticking to the front of my platform is my favorite but crossing the empty space feels like I'm doing a cheap tatic on my opponent I feel maybe a small hallway division of the arena would be another idea for the game giving everyone exactly half to have full movement on their side. Either stance on the colliders is valid in their own way and I think a compromise is a great idea, but as battle discs stands right now is not the way it's supposed to be I feel the devs have not given this wonderful game the attention it deserves. Amongst the many games that vrchat has hosted this is the one that has stuck throughout the many months. I'm hoping that eventually at least some of the ideas that have been brought up are considered and that we all can see a wonderful map come back to it's popular status.

After reading the comments I feel like some people seem to enjoy abusing glitches that are not suppposed to be here. If someone tells me it's a tactic crossing the border, using the backwall to make myself almost invincible or using discs that get stuck at walls, I'm just laughing about that because doing that is GLITCH ABUSING.
A lot of people have been playing battle disc for a year (me included) and know that there is supposed to be a collider in the middle to separate the fields, so people won't just run over to you and ruin the game.
There was a collider at the backwall to prevent people making themself almost invincible by hugging the wall wich was also a good reason.
The disc is not supposed to get stuck at walls, it's a bug that came up with the new updates, so it shouldn't be here.
To sum it up, those three issues we have are glitches that haven't been fixed yet. It's as I said before GLITCH ABUSING doing those things and shows me that the person doing that has lack of skill and needs those bugs to win the game.
I thank those who don't abuse those glitches. You are guys are not lazy as some people tell you, you guys are not without skill as some people told you in here, you guys who don't abuse those glitches are fair and good player and I hope we can play on a fixed battle disc soon again!

I agree with the @ Redwheat toggle proposal.
I think that we should separate classic mode (collider on) and modern mode (collider off).
Is not it a good idea to use a switch like a single disk or a double disk, or to prepare another world?
It is a fact that some players dislike using back walls and going beyond the center line.
However, it is also true that there are players who do not know the time when there was a collider.
Collider is not necessary, Collider is necessary, both opinions are correct, but is it necessary to exclude opponents with different opinions?
Players who use the back wall for battle, players who fight across the center line, skill is necessary to beat them.
We can teach that technology. There are also communities where players interact.
Differences in words become an obstacle, but if you pass through the translation in this way you can communicate to some extent.
I want coexistence, not exclusion.

Redwheat

There is a person who is in trouble if there is a wall.
There is a person who is in trouble if the wall does not exist.
If ONOFF can be done with the switch, all those problems are solved.
It is lazy not to study how to deal with coping (invaded into your area).
It is lazy not to study how to deal with coping (backwalls).
My opinion is that if there is a wall, the newly born strategy is lost.
When there is a wall, the old user comes back.
Recent users will be lost if there is a wall.
If I choose the presence or absence of a wall, I choose that there is no wall.
The reason is that there is no strategy when there is a wall, it is monotonous, not fun, because it will be a long battle of match time.

Battle Discs has been a game that I've truly enjoyed, whether it was an in-house game or in a small squabble competition with friends and many competitors, I've always had fun with the area and how it was before hand. But now, I feel as though my experiences for Battle Discs is dwindling very much so by a large amount daily.
Playing the game now isn't as fun as it was back then, when the collider within the middle of the map was able to separate the squabble easily enough to where people had an even attempt against each other in a two versus two or a one versus one. I treat Battle Discs like a game of dodge ball or tennis, to where you wouldn't want the other player at the other side of the map to hop onto your side of the court and try to beat you in a smaller, more compact area, as this leads to a huge disadvantage to the one on the receiving end. I understand that many strategies will be lost, but what strategies are gained when all you have to do it run at the opponent with a disc? Doesn't seem like a very strategic strategy to me. Also, bringing in the attention of the back wall, as it can be beaten, but it puts more work on the person who has to actually beat a back wall player as for now, since the hit box becomes very skewed when a person literally sits on an area that now gives a huge advantage, which does not seem to be fair about it at all.
Thirdly, I would like to bring into the attention of sticky discs, since that is also a huge factor for some of the losses that come with Battle Discs. I wouldn't understand how to fix this issue since I do not know its underlying causes, but it would definitely be something to look into. Lastly, I will end with an idea. Would it be understandable for them to put in a sign somewhere near the spawn that has a list of rules for Battle Discs? Like 'no general models' or 'VR hand controllers only' on something that is visible to the people when they spawn in so they can get an understanding of the game before they play.

Literally +1 this and also the toggling between wall/no wall. The thing is Battle Discs was always meant to be played with the wall and especially the people that played before this know that it was the normal way to play. People now walk halfway towards your area to get you killed which is no strategy at all, just a complete "gimme a hug" moment. What's annoying that there are no walls is Desktop users that have avatars the size of a fingernail rushing you and us having like a 1% chance of hitting them. For example, if you take the disc in Holoport mode and grab it as your character walks forward, you can literally spin around and hit the enemy team since the disc is made to follow where your camera is and not the actual character. The one other thing is that when a person who played before the update where there was a wall, it took skill to actually throw the disc faster than the other, rather than walking out of your play area by a bit and getting a fast hit on someone. To me this is a crucial update that needs to be done if we want the people that played battle discs prior to the update to return since most of them left for that reason.

The game needs to be fixed, tired of people thinking line crossing and back walling is a strategy when it is really just taking advantage of a problem that shouldn't even exist. In my opinion people just do it to compensate for their lack of skill. If people want to get up close and personal then they can head on over to echo arena and punch people there. Wanted to add that there is also the issue with discs sticking to walls instead of bouncing off of them which effectively ruins the game
