The current means in which content creators can have discourse with the developer team are through this Canny, email, random drop-ins on Discord, and tweeted questions that get answered during the dev streams.
They're all appreciated -- but these are all filtered submit-for-a-reply communications. It feels akin to writing letters to a president, and hoping to get a response. I think it's creating a dynamic where creators/players start to see the developers as monolithic entities that are marching to the beat of their own drum rather than a group of people trying their best to balance a hierarchy + work shit out in a medium that is still essentially the wild, wild west.
It'd be awesome if some of you guys/gals on the dev team could get together every month [or even every quarter] with some of those who build content for VRChat, and just have some discourse. You could invite only those who got on community spotlight or had popular avatars for that period of time, and the event could be recorded or streamed for the rest of us. Content creators could share their concerns / thoughts and ask the ~tough~ questions + conversely, y'all could do the same back. Your chance to roast us + tell us once and for all that VRChat does in fact use multiple cores! The community managers can be there to break up the Jerry Springer-esque fights, of course. 😉
I just truly think it'd benefit everyone if the content developers could have open dialogue with the platform developers rather than just get replies.
