Option to block animation overrides and replace shaders
Kazaghata
Certain people have custom animations or shaders whose sole purpose is to crash, lag, annoy or otherwise trigger people's epilepsy.
Would it be possible to have the option to replace all shaders with generic ones and disable/enable custom animation overrides?
Unlike safe-mode, this would allow people to see individual avatars while further deterring unwanted nuisances.

I mean there already is basically and option called block avatars.

Unbøund Creatør: This differs from safe mode in that everyone isn't a y-bot torso with no legs and that users can have additional options rather than the extremes of seeing nothing or seeing everything.

Kazaghata: I'd rather be forced back to one of the default avatars than be seen with the wrong shaders on my actual avatar.
Kazaghata
hakanai: That's why it's an option.
hakanai
Kazaghata: as currently described above, I get no such option if someone chooses to use this dumb feature.

Why would you get an option to damage someone's health (epileptic attacks)? If people don't want to see you they should have a choice to not have to. This is why the option to block people exists.
This feature request is because the current safe mode is too limited. Safe mode exists, so you already never had the option to be seen as you desire in the first place.
hakanai
Kazaghata: That safe mode is still better than rendering another avatar incorrectly.

hakanai: I guess that using of standard shaders in the safe mode is not bad idea. It’s better to see gray shaded avatars using safe shaders than see wireframe avatars in Panic mode.
hakanai
John Smith: I'd say it would be even better to replace the avatar completely, rather than just the shaders.

hakanai: Safe mode already does that. But this would give options to still see what others look like. Sometimes that is one of the elements that can spark conversation. If everyone looks generic, then it all seems bland... that's not to say it's the only way to spark conversation... but that's why it'd be nice to be an option.

Kalista Phoenix: the problem I have with the proposal as it stands is that it puts that choice in the hands of the viewer. I would prefer a choice, as I’m the one who is being viewed. I don’t really want my giant invisible cubes to suddenly become visible and fill the world. :|
Kalista Phoenix
hakanai: Question is.... why do you have giant invisible cubes?
hakanai
Kalista Phoenix: for tricks. Though it’s not really invisible either. The custom shader just stops it looking like a giant cube. If it were forced to standard, bam - big cube just sitting there. People with HUDs would probably all end up with cubes on their heads too, lol.

I'd also throw any custom scripts, leaving only Mesh, bones, and default animations. would disable dynamic bones too (Even though I do love Dynamic bones...)
