This may be more niche, but the ability to have a stereo 3D view on desktop would be nice. When in VR, you already have a stereo view since you're getting a separate view in each eye, but why can't we have this on desktop? On desktop, you only have a 2D view of a 3D space, and while this is fine most of the time, there are a few cases where a lack of depth perception can make things tricky, like picking up multiple objects and lining them up. Without depth perception, you might end up placing things all crooked. I've tried using the streamer camera as a way of judging distance by having a camera over me, but that requires I keep looking at another screen to see the overhead view.
How would we have a 3D view on desktop? A few games have already solved this problem years ago. Simply render a stereo view that uses color anyglyph glasses! It's not difficult to acquire a pair of ye olde red/cyan glasses, and other types could also be supported like green/magenta or amber/blue. And for the few people who have 3D comparable monitors, display modes for those could also be included.
It may not be a necessity, but the ability to see things in 3D both in and OUT of VR would mean fewer moments of desktop players awkwardly fumbling around trying to pour a cup of coffee!
