[1744] Improve QM Launchpad UI
nekochanfood
The new QM Launchpad layout currently requires users to retrain their muscle memory and feels somewhat clunky to use.
I would like to suggest considering a design that more closely resembles the 4x2 grid button layout, as this could help maintain existing user familiarity and improve overall accessibility to features.
Please consider changing the design.
Note that the attached image is one I made.

We've seen a lot of discussion about the new Quick Menu layout, and we get it: when familiar buttons move, muscle memory takes the hit.
This layout change is part of a broader shift to bring Events and Groups closer to the center of the VRChat experience. Surfacing what's happening live helps more players discover and join experiences together, which is a big focus for us right now.
Right now, this layout is part of an ongoing experiment. We're testing how changes like this affect how people navigate and discover social experiences in VRChat. We need to see how it performs at scale once it's live before deciding what sticks and what needs another pass.
Feedback is a key part of that process, as is data, A/B testing, etc. What you share here helps us spot friction that metrics alone can't capture. We'll be watching feedback closely after launch as well, and the results of both player sentiment and data will guide what comes next.
btw: the old "expando" button (which some folks have mentioned) and the new "Live Now" button both open the same place. They go to the main menu's hub for events and worlds (which used to be launchpad, and is now Live Now). That's why we removed the little expando guy, it's duplicate behavior

I understand that the Launch Pad's expand button became redundant, but I will say personally its removal was the most jarring QM change for me, given how often I typically pressed it. It also seems like a bad move in terms of consistency, since every other QM tab has an expand button in that exact spot.
It has been essentially
replaced
with the report button.Tupper - VRChat Head of Community

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community Hi Tupper, are there perhaps considerations to rename "Live Now" to something more recognisable?

Felinusfish: If you have suggestions or feedback, please feel free to make a new post! This post is about the quick menu UI.

[1724] Please move the Shop button out of Quick Links
Shaun
Every time I go to open my Social menu on the beta (easily upwards of 50+ times a night) I'm accidentally opening the Groups menu, because you've moved all the buttons to make room for the new Shop button. Could you
please
put the shop button somewhere else?°sky
with the new beta reorganising the menu, it feels a little off. i propose this layout instead
Boxofbiscuits97
°sky I'm glad someone else thinks the same way! This is exactly in my proposition comment below where I mocked up what that would actually look like

The developers made a new menu, and there was a chance to make it so other languages would fit into the interface. Now nothing fits again, and they’ll probably just shrink the font so the translations fit on the buttons and it’s going to look awful.

I generally don't like the fact we now have THREE different visual classes of buttons on main (launchpad) panel in addition to various extra buttons on the sides.
It's starting to look like a plane controls, just аss. You going to scary newbies how it was before.
Also for me "home" and "respawn" are way more frequent buttons than everything else except "social". Idk why it's secondary buttons.
Venclaire
Hard hard agree.
Please don't swap world, avatar, and social from what it used to be! Even if the buttons are smaller, I think those three are the most important. They should always be on the top row, preferably in the order of world -> social -> avatar.
The current version on the open beta is really awkward.
Dlesuke
also removed in this beta was the settings button in the top right of the QM. I tend to use that frequently and would like that back it's very weird without it
nekochanfood
Dlesuke well, I think the new UI makes sense in this case.
It's just because the launchpad menu in the MM no longer exists due to the change to "Live Now" and the QM Launchpad has lost its corresponding MM menu.
It's understandable that you're feeling but it will be hard to back unless rolling back "Live Now" to the previous one :/
Also even if just implement a button to go to MM's Live Now, there is already a button that can do the same thing.

Dlesuke I knew something was missing! My muscle memory kept clicking nothing

Here's my own mockup of a reordering:
If we are to keep things the way they've changed that's fine. The new widgets are a little weird but I think that's mostly in the order of them. Just simply re-ordering things like this I think would be a more digestible experience.
Also, 100% the "Live Now" should be renamed to "Activity" and maybe it should get a different icon or something. Some people have suggested a Planner icon of some sort and I'd agree that it's maybe a solid idea but personally, the current icon is probably fine as-is.

Boxofbiscuits97 Yeah this seems like the better option, would love to see it changed to this

I agree. The location of the "Shop" on the "Launch Pad" should not have been placed there, even if it meant making the "Social," "Avatars," and "World" buttons smaller. Frankly, the UI for revenue in recent VRC games is poor. I remember that when the Avatar Explorer was implemented, the Avatar tab always made the Explorer the default location. (I understand the importance of revenue, but back then and now, smarter methods should have been used, such as highlighting the text on the tab or emphasizing it with a sliding ad at the top of the Launch Pad.)
