Issue might have been identified!

For anyone still currently having this issue, VRChat support has opened a test branch on Steam, "z-test". The password for it is "VivaldiMozartBach".

Whatever changes that were made on this branch have resolved the issue for me. Give it a try if you're still having this problem.

wanted to copy some info here that I put in my helpdesk ticket.

I realized the issue only occurs if the VRC Quick Launcher is launched from the VCC, from the Tools tab. If I manually launch the VRCQL (from [VCC install location]\VRChat Creator Companion\Tools\VRC Quick Launcher), then it successfully launches a local test client without crashing.

So, possibly something weird going on with how the VCC launches the VRCQL? The crash dumps are still the same as before.

Finally, I double-checked, and this issue does not occur on the live build, it launches normally there. This issue is only happening for me on the 3p-beta and open-beta branches.

also wanted to add; the Unity error window appears VERY briefly, most of the time I completely miss it. The VRChat application never actually opens. It doesn't seem like a typical crash when VRChat is open; usually when VRChat crashes while running, the Unity error window stays there for a while longer, compared to what's happening here. The crash dumps also seem to be very tiny compared to the usual ones.

It's a lot easier to see the error window popup when directly using the VRC Quick Launcher to launch a build.

Worth noting that it only crashes when using the VRC Quick Launcher tool; running Build & Test the normal way launches the client successfully.
