[1915] Can't show Mic while HUD hidden

In desktop mode, there is no combination of options that allow you to hide the HUD buttons along the top while keeping the Microphone icon enabled, which means the usual method to prevent screen burn-in by hiding persistent UI elements and keeping the Mic visible on activity no longer works.

The open beta patch notes said:
Desktop HUD users can opt-in to show the classic mic indicator in the bottom-left of the screen.
- You can find the option under the Main Menu Settings→Audio & Voice→Mic Icon Position.
- Your options here will be "Bottom Left," "Top Right," and "Both."
- If the bottom-left indicator is enabled, it is excluded from the overall HUD opacity multiplier.
However, when I turn off the desktop HUD and set the mic icon to bottom left, it's still hidden, despite the claim that it's excluded from the HUD opacity multiplier.
