[3.8.2] cannot use SendCustomEvent/SendCustomNetworkEvent nodes, causes UdonGraph UI compilation errors in console and node vanishes

Steps to reproduce:
- ????????????????????????????????????????? I don't know
- attempt to connect UdonBehaviour type to input socket
- get these error messages (attached as TXT files)
in attempt to recover my SDK I corrupted my project and lost a whole day of work. TAKE FREQUENT BACKUPS, GUYS!
I don't know what/why/how this error occurred, and I am very distressed due to the loss of work, but I am making a canny post in the off-chance it helps ensure this never happens again
