Amazing is banned word in Bio
complete
Foorack
Try change your Bio to "You are beautiful", that works.
Try then change your Bio to "You are amazing", does not. It automatically changes it to "youarearloking" all-lowercase, spaces removed and some characters changed.
Update: After further debugging it seems like it is the "mazi" part of Amazing that is triggering the filtering. It was suggested this is in relation to blocking of the word nazi. Pazi works but Mazi does not.

We fixed "amazing" a while ago! Thank you for the report.
If you come across other cases like this, please let us know!

"G↋n" still gets mangled. And judging from below, many other cases of this sort of mangling have been reported. So closing the ticket just because "amazing" was fixed is a bit premature. This ticket isn't resolved until the filtering is removed, IMO.
Fairplex
hakanai This canny wasn't really clear and focused, especially regarding the sentence 'You are amazing'. Technically, it has been completed. However, I believe we need clarification about how the censoring system works. If it is by design, we could make a feature request so the system could be more transparent to the end user, for example it can display an error message "This bio contains forbidden words" instead of messing the whole bio.
Fax
Thanks for speaking up! Like Fairplex said, it's more helpful if each Canny request focuses on a specific issue. Otherwise, user votes would become less useful.
hakanai - The text you posted contains the character "TURNED DIGIT THREE", Unciode character U+218B.
It's a duodecimal digit in math. I think unusual Unicode characters are often filtered for security reasons, or because it would be too difficult for VRChat to support every Unicode character.
syncpulse
Fax it did focus on a single issue, until VRC staff merged several other word filter failure reports into this one, including general ones that aren't about a specific word, such as "Bio Censor Filter Removes Spaces, Capitalization, and Formatting when changing Bio In-game"
Fairplex
syncpulse I opened a follow up Canny that is more focusing on the profanity filter system here:

Fax Well, _supporting_ every Unicode character - not so hard, just stop blocking them. I've worked for a company as a developer in a context where we had to support internationalised text of all kinds before - it isn't impossible, it's just hard. Competent developers can do it. Do VRChat hire any?
_Rendering_ every Unicode character, somewhat harder.
Note that "supporting" and "rendering" are not the same thing. If you show the character as a square box, that can be considered supporting it correctly. Solving the problem of having a font which contains the character is a next step thing. Not showing the character at all, or filtering it out, is just incorrect behaviour.
Nonetheless it's a character I have in all my bios everywhere else, but VRChat is unnecessarily blocking it. Whether you personally consider it worth using or not is sort of irrelevant - it's already in use, by me, right now, pretty everywhere other than VRChat.
And no, "security reasons" has never been, and will never be, an acceptable reason for having bad internationalisation in an application.
At least you have done the research, though. Turned digit 3 (↋) is indeed used to mean "eleven" in dozenal circles. That is exactly the meaning I have used it for in "G↋n" - the digit eleven stands in for omitting the middle eleven digits of "Globalisation".

Writing the country name of "Hungary" (where i live) mess up my whole bio, removing formatting and messing up the words
Zuganda
This is called the Scunthorpe problem for anyone wondering, and it can be a pain to 'fully' fix
Gureumi
It's censored. not a bug
try to write "chilloutvr" in your bio
Netcat~
Also, i tried setting my bio to "Cute mayas hit me up" it changed it to "Cute mayaspoopmeup". Please fix the horrible bad word filtering it really needs a rework at this point

Avatar name filter overzealously matches real names
Poyo
I tried to upload an avatar of a character named "Kanami Mashita" and it filtered it to "Kanami Mapoopa." While profanity filters are fine for things like English-language text chat, they should never be used for name fields—any attempt to algorithmically determine what is or is not a name will automatically be racist in its attempt to filter names from other languages by the specific rules of one arbitrary language (English). I suggest that this filter be removed entirely.

[1101] Bio Censor Filter Removes Spaces, Capitalization, and Formatting when changing Bio In-game
Colonel Cthulu
When testing the new bio feature in-game, I came across a situation where the automatic censorship filtering erroneously "fixes" a bio.
This is reproducible using these steps:
1) Write a bio
2) Somewhere in the bio, add the word "shit".
3) You will see that it gets converted to "poop".
4) Try Changing "poop" to "sh1t" (Use a '1' instead of an i).
5) The bio now has lost all of its formatting, capitalization, and spacing.
See images below for a before and after. This likely isn't a client issue but rather server-side, specifically the censorship script breaking when trying to parse "workaround-swears". I noticed that the '4' in "4-year veteren" got turned into an 'a', leading me to believe the issue lies in the string sanitization.

Bio scrambles on website
u
uwo
The bio scrambles itself on the website. if you setup a bio in game and use shift enter to create different lines, the bio on the website will compact & scramble itself like m's will change to rn instead. Also when you setup your bio with new lines n stuff on the website, once you save it WILL rescramble it.

Profile Text becomes weird automatically
Takumi Nishijo
Description: The profile text becomes weird automatically.
Repro Steps:
- Press your profile text area.
- Type or paste this message accurately.
"My microphone has been broken.
I do not understand English.
It seems like I won't be able to play."
- Press its Ok button.
Expected: I get the same text.
"My microphone has been broken.
I do not understand English.
It seems like I won't be able to play."
Actual: I get this weird text.
"mymicrophonehasbeenbrokenidonotunderstandenglipoopseemslikeiwontbeabletoplay"
My browser is Firefox Browser 97.0.1
____
I think this reporting system is also weird.
It inserts unnecessary empty lines and changes the number 3 to 1.
You must see the images I uploaded to understand the repro steps correctly.

Jumbled Text in User Description Field
Praxeos
When I save text in the "Tell us a a bit about yourself" section of my profile (on the VRChat website) and click "OK," the text switches to all lowercase, the spaces between words are removed and it doesn't even preserve the correct characters, behaving as though poor OCR has been applied to an image of text. For instance, I will see "rn," instead of "m." It's very strange. I tried logging in and out. I also tried it in both Chrome and Firefox, with the same problem.
