Automatically resize images when uploading to the gallery

It's a bit of a pain to have to go to an external image editor to resize images below the resolution limit. Wouldn't it be nice if the website just went ahead and did that for us?

Considering that a cropping dialog appears after selecting an image file, restrictions should not be applied to the file being uploaded. Instead, the website should automatically resize the image only if the resolution exceeds the limit after cropping.
