World/Udon Bugs & Feature Requests

There are many camera settings that would be really nice to have access to after runtime. An interface could be provided for this via some proxy in the VRCGraphics class. (and maybe one for the hand camera as well!) Ideally this proxy would contain everything the normal Camera class has that doesn't pose a security risk. Some examples of very handy use cases for this: Change farclip dynamically to minimize perf overhead from unnecessarily drawing distant avatars/objects Safe access to culling masks for user-created layers to make a lot of common visibility tricks much easier Set depth texture to be generated without needing a shadow-casting dir light Get FOV to use for unique world mechanics Access to a lot of useful camera matrices like cameraToWorldMatrix, worldToCameraMatrix, projectionMatrix, etc... Access to stereo separation for more advanced world features ...and more I'm probably not thinking of!

In addition to the inventory post that already exist, I want to be able to give players items to consume/spawn only usable in my world. For example, if I make a Minecraft-esque world every player would find a starter kit in their inventory with a shovel, axe, torch and pickaxe. When leaving the world the items would disappear. Or a flare gun players can use to find each other on super large worlds. Assuming persistence exists, a tick box would exist on the imaginary item component to either make it disappear on switching world or you keep it forever (Or until consumed?)

If I want to pass a parameter to custom event receiver, even now, I could it by using public program variable and executing SetProgramVariable before SendCustomEvent. Comparing that, for example, OnCollisionEnter event uses implicitly defined variable "onCollisionEnterOther". I think it will be useful and user friendly if parameter passing can be written directly in sender side SendCustomEvent node and receiver side CustomEvent node as a kind of syntax sugar.

Currently, when a user enters the interaction range an interactive game object in a world, VRChat displays a blue halo around it. Udon can control this highlight with InputManager.EnableObjectHighlight , though it's unreliable and undocumented. It turns the highlight on and off, but the game object loses or regains its highlight if the user enters the interaction range. Worlds can work around this by calling EnableObjectHighlight every Update. Udon should be able to control an object's highlight state to a greater extent.

When serializing in VRCJson with JsonExportType set to Minify, the output contains unnecessary whitespace. This might not be possible with the way the nodes work, but a Switch node of some kind would allow easier conditional selection within complex states.

This community is very creative and no matter how many resources you put towards building cool tools, you will always lag behind the community's ideas. As such I think having some type of experimental area where world builders can extend the Node Graph without being blacklisted during upload seems like a great way to me to propose new features. Simple text and screenshots in the canny don't seem adequate for me here because you can't test your code, nor can you really illustrate properly what the benefits are. For example, what if you wish to build a PA / microphone system leveraging runtime modifications of the spatial audio parameters? This requires that you test with other players to get it right. And the best way to present the results would be through a demo. Now imagine someone could build a custom node for the Node Graph along the lines of: Set Audio Parameters Audio source Min range Max range ... And you're able to reference player voices as the audio source here, perhaps through a trigger of sorts.

In the Udon Graph and Udon Sharp there is currently no documentation. It would be convenient to have direct access to each function's documentation from Unity. For completeness sake I've attached an example of what it might look like in the Udon Graph. Though perhaps that should be a separate post.

In the graph UI, when a node has an implicit reference to the current gameObject, related transform or current script(UdonBehavior), visually indicate as such. For example, on the UdonBehvaior -> SendCustomEvent node, the input for the udon behavior reference implicitly fills the input with the reference to the current script if the input has no connection. It should visually indicate (with text change) that the reference to be used when there is no noodle attached is the current script. As of now it is simply labeled "instance", which can cause confusion and make developers think that they have to explicitly provide an instance noodle connection by doing a 'Const This -> Get Component UdonBehavior' each time. I would recommend having the text updated to something like "this script" or "current behavior" to have the visual indication that there is a value implied when no connection is present. This visual change would be a step in the right direction for making the graphs even more beginner focused and friendly.

Forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere, but it seems like Vrchat Instantiate only takes in one parameter: the prefab/gameobject. This causes the object to be cloned at its default position, e.g. 0,0,0. Additionally, transposing the object's position after cloning duplicates the object again in my graph setups for some reason. I'm using the latest SDK and Unity version as of this post date.
