It would be nice if it were possible to dynamically scale the avatar, adjusting the view position and IPD accordingly. Currently, there's a "Set View" component, which seems like it would work, but in fact scaling the avatar root the calling "set view" does not in fact adjust the view position or IPD (at least on desktop mode). It's not clear if this use cases is the intended one for "Set View", and this seems like it might have IK side effects as well - so rather than request that "Set View" support this use case, I'd simply like to suggest that this be supported somehow and leave it up to you guys to figure out how best to support this kind of operation.

Constraints have been a staple of PC since the 2018 update. Having constraints would be a great asset to Quest creators as it can allow for similariton of various pc only components such as dynamic bones and final ik.

VRChat is working on its own constraint component for avatars, replacing Unity constraints. VRCConstraints are like Unity constraints, but improved and optimized for VRChat avatars. They work on Quest and Android! Avatars can continue to use Unity constraints. However, they are automatically converted to VRCConstraints in VRChat. Unlike Unity's constraints, VRCConstraint is a single component. Instead of replacing the components, its behavior is selected via a dropdown. (This feature is still in development! The name and details of this feature are subject to change.)

As previously announced in one of VRChat developer updates , VRChat will be introducing new maximum limits for uploaded avatars. PC avatars Maximum file size: 500 MBs -> 200 MBs Maximum estimated memory usage: 1200 MBs -> 500 Mbs Quest avatars Maximum file size 10 MBs (unchanged) Maximum estimated memory usage: 40 MBs (new) The SDK will warn you if your avatar exceeds one of these limits. We came to these numbers based on an analysis of currently uploaded avatars. If we find legitimate use cases that we missed, we might change them. About 2% of avatars will be affected.

Simple enough to reproduce, if you simply make an FX controller that switches states based on the GestureRightWeight/GestureLeftWeight parameter and add the locomotion animator controller override included in the SDK, you can observe in the debugger that while the parameter changes, the animation state doesn't. If you remove the locomotion override it works properly.

When other players load an avatar faster than the avatar wearer, the avatar's Expression Parameters can have unintended values from the perspective of those who have loaded the avatar. This may cause the animator to execute remotely in a way that was not designed by the avatar author. For instance, when all of the following are combined: the avatar have pieces of clothing enabled by default in the hierarchy the animator states are entering a default state that makes sure they are enabled on entry the expression parameters has a default value properly set in a way that the entry state will not transition to another state unless manually acted upon ...even when all of these conditions are satisfied, when the other players load the avatar faster than the wearer, then the Expression Parameters may be seen by others with an unintended value that is non-default, causing the animator to transition to other states after loading, which may disable said clothing. This kind of behavior is invisible to the avatar wearer who may never be aware that this is happening. It puts a lot of burden onto the avatar creator to handle this edge case properly.

All right, VRChat removed avatar remeasure function in August 2020 and said they would correct the bug and put it back. But far from such a hint, time is just passing, and frankly, it is questionable whether they really intend to return the function to us at this point. The old system allowed you to touch a direction on the touchpad to select an emote and after you stopped touching it wouldn't reset back to neutral. Now it resets back to neutral when you're not holding it. Is this an intentional change?

I know that 'set view' is not for avatar scaling, but there's many users want use set view to avatar scale. The warning in the screenshot appears to be, 'We never intend to formalize this function.' If developers make this feature official, many users will not have to upload other avatars to change the size of their avatars. This will be very convenient and will prevent the indiscriminate increase of avatars within the VRChat server. I don't know the IK mechanism that VRChat uses, but I think you can create a program that recalculates IK based on the distance from the origin of the avatar to the head. thank you

We have parameters for X Y and Z velocities, but it would be nice to have a parameter that has the total direction independent velocity for velocity based effects.
